The first roar of a legend: Pa'l Norte was born on November 24, 2012 as "Pa'l Norte Rock Festival". Diego Rivera Park was witness to the first mark left by the imposing claw; a claw that would end up making history.
The event featured a single day of activities, two stages, 16 artists and 13 continuous hours of music. It was the first festival of its kind in the region, attracting audiences from different neighboring cities and achieving a sold out success.
The Neolonese culture shone brightly: the event featured traditional attractions such as a mechanical bull, as well as typical food from the region. Some of the artists that were part of this first edition were Calle 13, Los Bunkers, Zoé, Kinky, among others.
From here on "Siempre Ascendente" would echo edition after edition.
By 2013 the evolution was already palpable: the festival changed its name to "Pa'l Norte Music Fest", opening its horizons to new musical genres, leaving aside the exclusivity of rock. The venue became Fundidora Park, offering greater amplitude and a safer area for attendees.
And also came the birth of a tradition: It was in this edition when the now iconic Escenario Sorpresa was set up for the first time, with La Leyenda as sponsors. In addition, the festival had an alternate tent called Coca Cola Zero Club where dance music artists performed.
Pa'l Norte everywhere: Through a powerful alliance, the festival joined forces with Acción Poética for its diffusion through song phrases of the artists in the lineup.
Double the excitement! In 2014 Pa'l Norte was extended by one more day, taking place on Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1. The evolution of the festival could be noticed in its lineup, this time with a large international presence. The musical quality was only on the rise.
And the growth was experienced everywhere, as the number of surprises increased to two per day. In this edition the Surprise Stage had four exponents: Vanilla Ice, Proyecto Uni, Inner Circle and Chingy. In addition, the Pa'l Mercado was added to the amenities in order to offer a variety of regional products and a Food Court area with gastronomic options.
Everything for everyone: Pa'l Norte was in charge of offering a unique experience to each of the music-loving souls through the multiplication of its stages.
With an audience of more than 100 thousand people per edition, in 2015 the festival was consolidated as the most varied festival for all musical alternatives, and it went from 3 to 5 stages. To its arsenal of options was added the Ascendent Tent with emerging exponents of the music scene, and the Pilo's Bar, a traditional stage dedicated to regional exponents, in addition to its already characteristic Surprise Stage and the two main stages.
On the other hand, the first official merchandise store was included, giving attendees the opportunity to purchase all kinds of official festival merchandise.
As such a lion, Pa'l Norte was marking its territory step by step, and so it was that in 2016 it expanded its horizons by adding the Fundidora Park lake and extending to Parque Acero.
Musical diversity continued to be a central part of its interests, so it included one more stage to its lines: the Social Club, this time as an exclusive EDM space where since then great personalities of the genre have performed. In addition, the gap of musical genres was further extended to cover not only different tastes, but also different generations. In the same edition we could count on legends such as Caifanes, 50 Cent or Enrique Bunbury and artists of the moment such as J Balvin or Two Door Cinema Club.
In 2017 the festival was presented with a new skin: its name took a successful turn with the addition of the Tecate brand as an ally, baptizing the festival as it is currently known: Tecate Pa'l Norte. And the evolution of its stages continued to give a lesson, as the Ascending Tent was left in the past to give life to a new stage designed to host feats and collaborations of all kinds of musical genres: the Fusion stage.
The Fusion Stage sold out weeks before the event, and this edition stood out for having two eminent musicians as headliners: The Killers and Maná.
With Muse and Queens of the Stone Age as headliners, in 2018 Tecate Pa'l Norte exceeded 200 thousand sold out seats long before the event arrived. And inside, the experiences for the audience grew, as one of the most intimate and endearing concepts was born: on the Acoustic Stage, offering unique performances of its kind.
By this time the festival was already attracting audiences not only from Mexico, but from all over Latin America and part of the United States.
Tecate Pa'l Norte in the air: this year the official airplane of the festival was also presented by Viva Aerobus, official sponsor of Pa'l Norte.
The rise of the festival has been marked by multiple events throughout its history, and in 2019 one of them occurred, as the amazing affluence led to place it as the most successful festival in Mexico, and two months before this edition the localities were already sold out.
In addition, this was the year that saw the birth of the acclaimed "Villa Maravilla" stage, where since then, techno and experimental presentations are carried out by its exponents.
Faced with the situation in the entertainment world caused by the global pandemic that swept the world, and motivated by the idea of reviving the spirit of the festivals and bringing the Tecate Pa'l Norte experience to homes, the first virtual festival in the Americas was created with first-class technology and an outstanding production and logistics: the Tecate Pa'l Norte Virtual.
The event featured performances by more than a dozen artists and more than 500,000 attendees from different parts of the world. Tecate Pa'l Norte was recognized worldwide and also became the #1 community on Discord, which brings together thousands of music and technology lovers.
Stronger than ever: In 2021 Tecate Pa'l Norte imposed its mark and resurfaced firmly with its in-person edition loaded with monumental presentations and with 9 stages along its extension, as it added to its lines the Bacardi Oasis with urban artists offering doses of rhymes and dance to the audience.
To the innovation of the festival was added the inclusion of NFT's, a concept that turned out to be a total success.
Less than 5 months after its 2021 edition, the festival returned to its usual dates with its tenth edition on April 1 and 2, celebrating in style with renowned artists such as The Strokes, Maroon 5, Martin Garrix and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, among some of the other stars of the lineup.
Its international fame, as well as the quality and relevance of its editions, led it to be positioned within the Top 10 festivals globally. Likewise, the Viberate platform, dedicated to analyzing the music industry through data analysis on the web, presented a summary of the most popular festivals in the world, and Tecate Pa'l Norte was ranked number 7 in the category of festivals.
One more day of music: Driven by the positive response to the festival and being faithful to the motto "always ascending", Tecate Pa'l Norte extended the music festival to three days on March 31, April 1 and 2.
And the evolution went even further: For Tecate Pa'l Norte it is important to offer an experience that can be enjoyed by everyone, so a diversity and inclusion plan was implemented with which a handicapped area was added to the festival, as well as several shows with Mexican sign language.
In addition, in order to take the festival experience to another level, this year the official Tecate Pa'l Norte App was created with all the relevant information about its stages, performance schedules, the different areas and amenities, among other aspects.
